Change of Venue for India vs Sri Lanka ODI

The inaugural ODI between India and Sri Lanka, originally set for December 13, will now take place in Visakhapatnam instead of Delhi. This decision was made due to ongoing renovation work at the Arun Jaitley Stadium and potential adverse weather conditions in the capital. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that the match will be hosted at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on the same date.

The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) had previously informed the BCCI about its inability to host the match, citing the renovation work and the likelihood of weather disruptions in December. A source from the DDCA indicated that the association could not manage the event under the current circumstances.

Upcoming Series Schedule

India is set to welcome Sri Lanka for a series comprising three ODIs and three T20Is next month. The ODI series will kick off in Visakhapatnam on December 13, followed by matches in Bengaluru and Ahmedabad. The T20I series will follow the ODIs, with matches scheduled in Rajkot, Cuttack, and Pune.

Currently, the Indian team is on a tour of New Zealand for a five-match ODI series, after which they will engage in a two-Test series. Following their tour, the Men in Blue will return to host Sri Lanka. The venue change was prompted by the DDCA's concerns regarding its readiness to host the first ODI, given the renovation work and weather conditions expected in December.
