Athletics: A Six-Medal Success

Athletics was the highlight of the day, contributing six medals to India's tally. In the men's javelin throw, Rohit Yadav and Yashvir Singh achieved bronze and silver, respectively, marking a successful podium finish for India.


Yashvir Singh initially led the competition but was ultimately surpassed by Sri Lanka's Rumesh Pathirage, who won gold with throws of 88.33m and 88.55m. Yashvir's personal best of 85.72m secured him the silver, while Rohit Yadav's throw of 84.35m earned him bronze, finishing ahead of Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem.


In the men's long jump, Murali Sreeshankar claimed silver with a jump of 8.07m, marking his second consecutive silver at the Asian Games. Gulveer Singh also added to the medal count with a silver in the men's 1500m, clocking a personal best of 3:36.72.

Esha Singh added another silver to India's medal tally in the women's 25m pistol individual final. In kurash, Pincky Balhara secured bronze in the women's -78kg category after a semifinal loss to South Korea's Mo Sumin.
