The Indian women's cricket team successfully defended its title, achieving a commanding 147-run victory over Sri Lanka in the final. This win elevated India's medal count to seven and marked the country's first gold of the Games. Batting first, India scored an impressive 216/3, their highest total in women's cricket at the Asian Games. Smriti Mandhana led the charge with a stunning 79 runs off 45 balls, while Richa Ghosh contributed an unbeaten 49 off 22 balls. Shafali Verma also played a crucial role with 48 runs off 29 balls. The bowlers then restricted Sri Lanka to just 69 runs, securing a comprehensive victory.
Men's Badminton Team Advances to Semifinals
The Indian men's badminton team, which previously secured silver, triumphed over Japan with a decisive 3-0 victory, ensuring at least a bronze medal. Lakshya Sen overcame a challenging start against world No. 7 Kodai Naraoka, coming back from a deficit to win 11-21, 21-5, 21-19. Following this, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty won their match against former world champions Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi, while Ayush Shetty sealed the deal with a 21-10, 21-19 victory over Koki Watanabe.

In contrast, the Indian women's badminton team faced disappointment, exiting the tournament after a 1-3 defeat to Japan in the quarterfinals. PV Sindhu started strong but ultimately lost to world No. 3 Akane Yamaguchi. Unnati Hooda also fell short against Tomoka Miyazaki, while Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand managed a win, but Tanvi Sharma's loss sealed India's fate.
