India's Medal Count at Asian Games 2026

India had a remarkable day at the Asian Games 2026, securing numerous medals in kabaddi, athletics, shooting, and squash, while also reaching the finals in two squash singles events.

To date, India has amassed a total of 30 medals at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026, which includes four gold, 12 silver, and 14 bronze medals.

Kabaddi: India Dominates with Gold Medals

In kabaddi, India achieved a clean sweep, with both the men's and women's teams triumphing over Iran in their finals. The men's team won 40-34, while the women's team narrowly defeated Iran 37-34, successfully defending their title. This victory marks India's third gold medal at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Games.

During the men's final, Iran made a late push to turn the match around, but Aslam Inamdar scored crucial points to maintain India's lead. As the match concluded, Iran was unable to recover, resulting in India's gold medal win and an unbeaten campaign.

Athletics: Silver Medals for Toor and Barwal

In athletics, Tajinderpal Singh Toor earned a silver medal in the men's shot put, finishing behind Iran's Mohammadreza Tayebise, who set a Games Record with a throw of 20.81 meters. This silver adds to Toor's impressive history at the Asian Games, having previously won gold in Jakarta 2018 and Hangzhou 2022.

Sawan Barwal also contributed to India's medal tally by winning silver in the men's marathon, clocking a national record time of 2:11:37. This achievement ended a 44-year wait for India to secure a podium finish in this event.

Shooting: Women's Team Secures Silver

India's women's team in the 50m rifle 3 positions event clinched a silver medal, with Ashi Chouksey, Tilottama Sen, and Vidarsa Vinod finishing second with a combined score of 1763-90x, trailing behind gold medalists China.

Tilottama was the top scorer for India with 590 points, followed by Vidarsa with 588 and Ashi with 585. Both Tilottama and Vidarsa qualified for the individual final, finishing third and sixth respectively, while Ashi did not advance.

Squash: Anahat and Abhay Advance to Finals

In squash, mixed results were observed as Joshna Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar secured a bronze medal in mixed doubles after losing to Hong Kong's Tang Ming Hong and Lee Ka Yi in the semifinals. However, India's singles players excelled, with Anahat Singh defeating Japan's Satomi Watanabe 3-2 in the women's singles semifinal and Abhay Singh winning against Pakistan's Muhammad Irfan 3-0 in the men's singles semifinal.
