India's Strong Finish at the Championships
India wrapped up its participation in the 5th Bonus Asia Cup Bridge Championships, which received recognition from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) and was backed by the Sports Authority of India (SAI). The nation achieved an impressive tally of three Silver medals and one Bronze, showcasing its prowess in both team and matchpoint finals.
Outstanding Performance by India B Seniors
The highlight of the event was the India B Seniors team, which excelled in the league stage and achieved a thrilling semifinal victory against Japan, winning 126-125 (1 IMP). This victory secured their spot in the Gold Medal Final, where they ultimately earned Silver after a tough match against Australia. The team, consisting of Sukamal Das, Hemant Jalan, Jitendra Solani, Anil Padhye, Rajesh Dalal, and Raju Tolani, was coached by Anal Shah, and their performance kept India in contention for the title until the very end.
Medals Across Various Categories
India also secured a Bronze medal in the Men's Team Championship with the India A team finishing strong. In the Matchpoint Finals, Savleen Thadani and Sadhana Gupta achieved Silver in the Women's Pairs, while Subir Majumder and Sujit Kumar Bhattacharjee also claimed Silver in the Seniors Pairs.

Gold medals in the Team Championships were awarded to top bridge nations in Asia. Australia took home the Seniors title, Hong Kong China won the Men's event, Indonesia claimed the Women's title, and China secured the Mixed Teams championship. In the Matchpoint Finals, the Men's title went to Wei Ho and Sun Wei Lee from Chinese Taipei, while Barbara Travis and Lori Smith from Australia won the Women's event. The Mixed title was claimed by Suk King Chan and Kon Wong from Hong Kong China, and the Seniors crown went to Younghong Cheng and Wei Wei Tsao from Chinese Taipei.
Success in HCL Friendship Pairs
India also performed admirably in the HCL Friendship Pairs, an event held concurrently with the championships. Arun Bapat and Ajay Khare emerged victorious, winning Gold with a score of 616.64 points, while Kamna Sharma and Abhijit Pal secured the Bronze medal with 586.82 points, further enhancing India's overall achievements.
