The 26th Asian Athletics Championship held in Gumi, South Korea, saw an impressive display from Indian athletes, who secured a total of 24 medals, marking their best performance since 2017. The medal tally included 8 gold, 10 silver, and 6 bronze medals, placing India second in the points table, just behind China, which topped the chart with 19 gold medals. Dominance in Field Events

Indian athletes excelled in field events as well, with Pooja Singh winning gold in the women's high jump. Nandini Agasra triumphed in the heptathlon, while Animesh Kujur set a new national record in the men's 200 meters sprint, earning a bronze medal. Parul Chaudhary broke the national record in the women's 3,000 meters steeplechase, securing a silver medal.
