India's Impressive Performance at the Tournament

India showcased an outstanding performance at the AESF-sanctioned Pokemon UNITE Asia International Tournament, securing the runner-up position after a remarkable journey in a competition that included 11 national teams from various Asian countries.


Tournament Overview

The closed international tournament, organized by the Asian Electronic Sports Federation (AESF), featured teams from Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Nepal. The teams began their journey with an online qualification round on June 14, 2026. Team India excelled in this stage, finishing at the top of their group and earning a spot in the Grand Finals held in Bangkok, Thailand, on June 21, 2026.


Team India's Journey to the Finals

Throughout the tournament, Team India demonstrated resilience, strategic prowess, and composure, ultimately finishing second overall. Under the leadership of captain Adnan Mohammed Badshah and alongside teammates Sai Krishna Nalluri, Dipjyoti Laxman Nath, Rudra Narayan Nayak, Reuben Godfrey Fernandes, and Deepkumar Vipulbhai Patel, the team began their campaign with a 2-1 victory against Singapore in the first round. They later faced Japan in the upper-bracket semifinals but were defeated by the eventual champions, which pushed them into the lower bracket.


The team rebounded strongly, defeating Singapore again to secure their place in the Grand Finals, where they faced Japan once more. In a hard-fought three-game series, India showcased impressive teamwork and objective control, ultimately finishing as runners-up.

"This tournament was fantastic, and the matches were thrilling. Competing against international players was a great experience for us. We are eager to represent India at the Asian Games. Competing against some of Asia's top teams provided essential international match experience ahead of this major event.
