India Sends Additional Relief Supplies to Nepal Amid Flood Recovery Efforts

New Delhi, September 19: In a continued effort to assist Nepal, India dispatched an additional 11 tonnes of relief supplies on Saturday to aid in the recovery from the recent catastrophic flash floods.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar announced on X, “We have sent another 11 tonnes of essential relief materials to Nepal, which include medicines, forensic supplies, tents, hygiene kits, sleeping bags, and other critical items. India remains committed to supporting Nepal’s recovery efforts. Neighbourhood First.”
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reported that this marks the ninth flight by the Indian Air Force (IAF) delivering relief supplies as Nepal grapples with the aftermath of the devastating floods that occurred on August 26, resulting in over 1,300 fatalities and many individuals still unaccounted for.
On Friday, Nepal's Finance Minister, Swarnim Wagle, expressed gratitude towards the Indian government for its assistance in the rescue and relief operations following the flash floods in Rasuwa, as stated by the Embassy of Nepal in India.
According to the Embassy's post on X, “Dr. Swarnim Wagle met with Dr. S. Jaishankar in New Delhi, where he thanked the Indian government for its support during the recent crisis in Rasuwa.”
The two officials also discussed enhancing the long-standing friendship between Nepal and India, focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas such as investment, energy, and connectivity.
Last week, India delivered various relief and rescue materials, including tunnel rescue equipment and forensic supplies, to Mahabir Pun, Nepal's Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation.
Ambassador Naveen Srivastava shared on X, “The eighth Indian flight carrying relief and rescue materials, including tunnel rescue equipment and forensic supplies, successfully arrived in Kathmandu and was handed over to Minister Mahabir Pun.”
Since the onset of the floods on August 26, India has expedited the delivery of relief supplies, equipment, and expert personnel to Nepal through nine special flights.
