New Delhi: Officials have confirmed that India has officially requested a halt in the ongoing proceedings concerning the Kishanganga and Ratle hydropower projects. This move is part of India's efforts to assert its rights over the western river systems as stipulated in the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT).
In a letter directed to Michel Lino, the neutral expert appointed by the World Bank, the Indian government has called for the suspension of the previously agreed work program. This program includes Pakistan's written submissions due in August and the joint discussions planned for November.
