Team India showcased an impressive performance, bouncing back with a decisive 3-0 victory against Mongolia during the Billie Jean King Cup (BJKC) 2026 held at the Delhi Lawn Tennis Authority Complex on Friday.


As hosts of the Group I - Asia/Oceania matches, India has recorded two wins and two losses so far, with their final match against Korea Republic scheduled for Saturday. Zeel Desai stepped in for Vaishnavi Adkar in the first singles match, and both Desai and Sahaja Yamalapalli delivered flawless performances, winning their matches with identical scores of 6-0, 6-0. Adkar teamed up with Rutuja Bhosale in the doubles, where they triumphed 6-1, 6-0, completing a clean sweep.


India's Commanding Display

In their inaugural encounter against Mongolia, Desai set the pace with a dominant display, defeating Anu-Vjin Gantor 6-0, 6-0 in just 37 minutes, leaving her opponent with little opportunity to respond.


Yamalapalli followed suit with another commanding performance, overpowering Jargal Altansarnai 6-0, 6-0.


The doubles match saw Adkar and Bhosale maintain India's dominance, winning 6-1, 6-0 against Khongorzul Aldarkhishig and Jargal Altansarnai. The Indian duo worked seamlessly together, taking control early and never allowing their opponents to find their rhythm, culminating in a nearly perfect outing for the home team.

In other matches, Korea Republic faced Indonesia in a battle between the top two teams, with their head-to-head record tied at 5-5. Korea took an early advantage as Dayeon Back continued her unbeaten streak in the tournament, narrowly defeating Priska Madelyn Nugroho 7-5, 3-6, 6-2, with additional matches still to be played.


Meanwhile, Thailand was on track for a win against New Zealand, leading 1-0 despite a 3-5 deficit in their head-to-head record. Anchisa Chanta secured the lead with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Aishi Das.
