Operation Sindoor: India Addresses Pakistan's Provocations

New Delhi: During a special briefing on 'Operation Sindoor', the Indian government condemned Pakistan's aggressive actions aimed at escalating tensions by targeting both military and civilian locations in India. The briefing emphasized that the vigilant Indian military has successfully countered all of Pakistan's malicious attempts.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, along with Army Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, highlighted that Pakistan has been persistently launching attacks on India's western borders using drones, long-range weaponry, and fighter jets to strike Indian military installations.

Colonel Qureshi pointed out a specific incident where a high-speed missile was fired by Pakistan at 1:40 AM, aimed at an air base in Punjab, which constitutes a clear breach of international regulations.

The briefing team collectively held Pakistan accountable for the rising tensions, asserting that India has responded in a measured manner to dismantle terrorist bases, while Pakistan has been deliberately targeting civilian and military infrastructure within India.

They also reported that health facilities and educational institutions were among the targets during the recent escalation by Pakistani forces.

Vikram Misri criticized Pakistan's false narratives and propaganda efforts, urging the public to disregard these misleading claims.

As part of its disinformation campaign, Pakistan alleged the destruction of an Indian S-400 system and airfields in Sirsa and Surat.

The Indian officials firmly rejected these assertions, labeling them as blatant lies and part of Pakistan's ongoing propaganda efforts.

Colonel Qureshi noted that India's air defense systems successfully intercepted numerous projectiles launched by Pakistan, which attempted infiltration at over 26 locations, targeting military bases in Udhampur, Bhuj, Pathankot, and Bathinda, with most being neutralized.

Pakistan also deployed multiple armed drones from its territory over Khasa Cantt in Amritsar; however, these UAVs were effectively intercepted by the Indian Army's air defense systems.

The Indian Army reported that at approximately 5 AM, several enemy drones were detected over Khasa Cantt, Amritsar, and were promptly engaged and destroyed by air defense units.

The Army condemned Pakistan's provocations, stating, "Pakistan's blatant attempt to violate India's sovereignty and jeopardize civilian safety is intolerable. The Indian Army will thwart any enemy designs."

In a decisive response to Pakistan's hostile actions, the Border Security Force (BSF) successfully dismantled a Pakistani post and a terrorist launch pad in Looni, District Sialkot, from where drone attacks on India were being launched.

On May 9, 2025, Pakistan initiated unprovoked firing on BSF posts in the Jammu Sector, to which the BSF retaliated effectively, causing significant damage to the Pakistan Rangers' posts and assets along the International Boundary.

The BSF confirmed that the terrorist launch pad in Looni, District Sialkot, opposite the Akhnoor area, was completely destroyed, reaffirming their commitment to safeguarding India's sovereignty.
