Indian Team Set for International Skills Competition

On Monday, Jayant Chaudhary, the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, along with his role in Education, officially launched the Indian team for the 2026 Taipei Capital Cup WorldSkills Invitational Tournament. This event is scheduled to take place in Taipei, Taiwan, from May 26 to 28, 2026.


The Indian delegation, consisting of five talented members, is poised to compete against participants from approximately 15 different nations. This tournament serves as a preparatory event leading up to the WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, focusing on enhancing global skills development, technical excellence, and international collaboration while providing participants with invaluable competitive experience.


Encouragement from Jayant Chaudhary

During his address to the competitors, Jayant Chaudhary urged them to embody confidence, discipline, and excellence as they represent India. He emphasized the significance of such competitions in honing technical skills and fortifying India's skilling ecosystem, preparing the youth for future global opportunities.

Skill Categories and Competitors

India will showcase its skills in five categories at the 2026 Taipei Capital Cup WorldSkills Competition. The representatives include Arjun Sumathi Vijayabashkar in Mobile Applications Development, Mohamed Mafaz Poonaikannan Rabi Ahamed in Software Applications Development, Muskan in Painting & Decorating, Md Seraj in Automobile Technology, and Suresh Kumar Ganesan Meena in Digital Construction. This contingent comprises gold medalists from the IndiaSkills National Competition 2025-26, alongside candidates selected through a wildcard entry process.


Preparation for WorldSkills Shanghai 2026

This year's competition features ten skill categories that are crucial to sectors related to smart manufacturing and digital transformation, including Industrial Mechanics, IT Network Systems Administration, Mobile Applications Development, Industry 4.0, Automobile Technology, and Digital Construction (BIM).


India's involvement in this tournament is a significant milestone in its preparation for the 48th WorldSkills Shanghai 2026. The event will offer Team India early exposure to international standards, serving as a vital warm-up opportunity that will enable competitors to refine their technical skills and align with global excellence standards.
