Minister Chairs Quarterly Business Review Meeting

In New Delhi, Jyotiraditya Scindia, the Union Minister for Communications and Development of the Northeast, presided over the Quarterly Business Review meeting of the Postal Department at Vigyan Bhawan today, Tuesday. Senior officials from the Postal Directorate and Chief Postmaster Generals (CPMGs) from all 23 Postal Circles across the country participated in the meeting. The performance of the first quarter for the financial year 2026-27 was thoroughly reviewed, and discussions were held regarding the strategic action plan for the upcoming quarters.


India Post Surpasses ₹4,000 Crore in Q1 Revenue

Minister Scindia congratulated the department for achieving a record revenue of ₹4,008.95 crore in the first quarter. He noted that this represents a remarkable 22.2 percent increase compared to the same period last year, marking the first time in India Post's history that quarterly revenue has exceeded ₹4,000 crore. During the meeting, the minister praised the strong performance across six key business areas. He reported impressive growth rates, including 49.9 percent in parcel services, 41.9 percent in mail services, 34.3 percent in international business, and 85.7 percent in citizen-centric services. Additionally, there was a 20.1 percent increase in postal life insurance and rural postal life insurance, along with a 9.7 percent rise in the Post Office Savings Bank.


Strategic Priorities for Upcoming Quarters

Minister Scindia announced three strategic priorities for the department in the upcoming quarters. These include empowering logistics and international business, expanding new business opportunities through MSMEs, the 'One District One Product' (ODOP) initiative, tourism, and agriculture, as well as strengthening citizen-centric services, financial inclusion, insurance, and rural logistics.


Cluster-Based Approach for Effective Implementation

To effectively implement these goals, he proposed dividing the country's 23 postal circles into three clusters, assigning each cluster a specific strategic area of responsibility. This approach aims to achieve better results through collaboration, innovation, and the exchange of best practices.
