India Launches National IED Data Management System to Enhance Security
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has inaugurated India's first National IED Data Management System (NIDMS), aimed at enhancing the country's counter-terrorism efforts. This digital platform will facilitate the systematic collection and analysis of data related to improvised explosive devices (IEDs), significantly improving the investigation of terrorist incidents. The initiative, launched at the NSG camp in Gurugram, is expected to strengthen internal security and integrate various data sources using advanced AI technology. Shah emphasized the importance of NIDMS in creating a safer environment against terrorism.

Introduction of the National IED Data Management System
During the launch of India's inaugural National IED Data Management System (NIDMS), Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated on Friday that this initiative will serve as a next-generation shield against terrorism. He emphasized that the system will play a crucial role in investigating various terrorist incidents across the country and analyzing their different aspects, thereby strengthening the nation's internal security in three significant ways.
Virtual Launch at NSG Camp
Shah made these remarks while virtually inaugurating the NIDMS at the National Security Guard (NSG) camp located in Manesar, Gurugram. This initiative marks a vital step towards bolstering India's capabilities against improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and enhancing internal security. The event was attended by key officials, including the Union Home Secretary, the Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), the Director General of the NSG, and various state police chiefs.
Features of NIDMS
The NIDMS, developed by the NSG, is a secure, national-level digital platform designed for the systematic collection, compilation, and dissemination of data related to improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Shah noted in his address, "The NIDMS will prove to be extremely important in the coming days for investigating all types of terrorist incidents in the country and analyzing their various aspects. Furthermore, it will act as a next-generation security shield against terrorism."
Advancements in Data Collection
The minister explained that the Home Ministry has gathered various types of data over the past few years, but they were previously uncoordinated. The BJP leader stated, "We are now working on integrating these data sources and developing advanced artificial intelligence-based software for analysis. The launch of NIDMS today will accelerate this process and serve as a significant milestone in making the country safer from terrorism."
