India Secures Silver in Women's 10m Air Rifle Team Event

India has clinched a silver medal in the women's 10m air rifle team competition at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. The team, consisting of Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar, and Vidarsa Vinod, achieved this milestone on Sunday, marking the country's first medal of the event.

The Indian team accumulated a total of 1898 points, finishing second to China. Japan took the fourth position, while Korea still had one shooter left to complete her series.

Elavenil Valarivan delivered an impressive performance, scoring 633.5 points, and has qualified for the individual final. Sonam Maskar has also advanced to the final.

Suchika Tariyal Advances in MMA

In another achievement, Suchika Tariyal secured a medal in the Asian Games by defeating Altanchimeg Baigalmaa in the women’s traditional 60kg MMA event, advancing to the semifinals on Friday in Nagoya.

Baigalmaa started the second round aggressively, attempting to turn the match in her favor, but Suchika's defense remained strong under pressure.

As Baigalmaa continued her offensive, Suchika executed a pivotal reversal, bringing her opponent to the ground and maintaining control until the round concluded, ensuring her victory.

This win not only advanced Suchika to the semifinals but also confirmed India's first medal of the Games.
