India Issues Urgent Advisory for Nationals in Israel Amid Rising Tensions
Urgent Advisory for Indian Nationals
New Delhi, June 13: In light of escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, the Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv has released an urgent advisory for Indian citizens currently residing in the region. The advisory emphasizes the need for vigilance, discouraging non-essential travel, and urging adherence to local safety guidelines.
This advisory follows significant airstrikes conducted by Israel on Iran early Friday, raising fears of a wider regional conflict.
In a social media announcement, the Indian mission highlighted the necessity for caution and preparedness among Indian nationals in Israel.
“Given the current situation in the area, all Indian citizens in Israel are advised to remain alert and follow the safety protocols set by Israeli authorities and the home front command. It is crucial to avoid unnecessary travel within the country and to stay near safety shelters,” the Embassy of India stated in a post on X.
The embassy also encouraged Indian nationals to keep informed through official sources and to maintain contact with the mission in case of emergencies.
This advisory comes on the heels of Israel declaring a special state of emergency following what it termed a “preemptive strike” against Iran. The situation is evolving, with reports of explosions in Tehran and increased security measures throughout Israel.
The military actions are occurring amid rising concerns regarding Tehran’s nuclear ambitions and the perceived threats they pose to Israeli security.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a televised address, confirmed that Israel has commenced a "targeted military operation to mitigate the Iranian threat to Israel’s existence."
“This operation will continue for as long as necessary to eliminate the threat of annihilation against us,” Netanyahu stated, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz also affirmed the offensive, labeling it a "preemptive strike" designed to neutralize immediate threats. In light of the increased danger, Katz announced a special state of emergency across Israel to ensure national readiness and the safety of civilians.
