Safety Advisory for Indian Nationals
New Delhi, Feb 28: Following the announcement of significant military actions against Iran by US President Donald Trump, the Indian government has urged its citizens in both Iran and Israel to remain cautious and vigilant.
In a recent advisory, the Indian Embassy in Tehran recommended that Indian nationals in Iran limit their movements and stay indoors as much as possible due to the escalating situation.
The embassy stated, “Given the current developments, all Indian citizens in Iran should exercise extreme caution, minimize unnecessary travel, and remain indoors whenever feasible.”
Additionally, it encouraged Indians to stay updated with news reports, maintain awareness of their surroundings, and await further instructions from the embassy. The embassy also provided its emergency contact information.
As per official estimates from January, there are slightly more than 10,000 Indians, including students, living in Iran.
Similarly, the Indian Embassy in Israel has issued a warning, advising Indian nationals to maintain high levels of caution and vigilance at all times. The Indian community in Israel is estimated to be over 41,000.
The embassy emphasized, “Indian nationals must adhere strictly to the safety protocols and directives from Israeli authorities and the Home Front Command.”
It also advised citizens to stay close to designated shelters and to familiarize themselves with the nearest safe spaces at their homes or workplaces.
Furthermore, the advisory recommended that Indian nationals avoid all non-essential travel within Israel until further notice. Citizens are encouraged to regularly check local news, official communications, and emergency alerts.
In case of emergencies, the embassy in Tel Aviv is available for assistance and is actively coordinating with local authorities to provide timely updates.
