Starting Day 4 with a lead of 178 runs, India had previously dismissed Sri Lanka for 284 in their first innings, thanks to a four-wicket haul from Manav Suthar. Despite Suthar's impressive bowling, which included four wickets, Sri Lanka was ultimately bowled out for 284, trailing India's first innings total of 464.
