India Exposes Pakistan's Deception at UN Security Council
India's Strong Response to Pakistan's Claims
During a recent open debate at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) focused on 'Protection of Civilians in Armed Conflicts', India once again highlighted Pakistan's hypocrisy. When the Pakistani representative raised the issue of Jammu and Kashmir, India took a firm stance, reprimanding Pakistan on the international stage.
Pakistan's Violence as a Distraction
India's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Harish Parvathaneni, confronted Pakistan, stating that its long history of genocidal acts reveals a pattern of diverting attention from its internal failures by spreading violence both within and beyond its borders. He remarked, "It is utterly absurd and ironic that a country like Pakistan, which has its own history marred by acts of genocide, lectures on issues that are entirely India's internal matters."
Referencing Recent Attacks
Parvathaneni referred to Pakistan's attacks on Afghanistan earlier this year, noting, "The world has not forgotten that in March, during the holy month of Ramadan—a time for peace, reflection, and compassion—Pakistan conducted a brutal airstrike on the 'Hope Addiction Treatment Hospital' in Kabul."
Casualties from the Attack
Citing the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), he stated, "This cowardly and inhumane act resulted in the deaths of 269 civilians and injured 122 others. This attack occurred in a location that cannot be justified as a 'military target' in any way." He further criticized Pakistan's hypocritical stance of advocating for high principles of international law while simultaneously targeting innocent civilians under the cover of darkness.
UNAMA's Findings
According to UNAMA, these airstrikes took place just after the evening Taraweeh prayers, as many patients were exiting the mosque. Parvathaneni also referenced UNAMA's assessment, which indicated that over 94,000 people were displaced due to cross-border armed violence against Afghan citizens.
Pakistan's Aggressive Actions
He expressed that such aggressive actions from a country like Pakistan are not surprising, as it is a nation that "drops bombs on its own people and systematically commits genocide." Parvathaneni recalled the planned campaign of mass rape against 400,000 women by its own army during 'Operation Searchlight' in 1971. India's intervention in this debate focused on rejecting Pakistan's attempts to frame these issues as 'internal matters.'
