India Expects Turkey to Urge Pakistan to Halt Terrorism Support
India's Expectations from Turkey Regarding Pakistan
On Thursday, Randhir Jaiswal, the spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), expressed India's hope that Turkey will firmly encourage Pakistan to cease its backing of cross-border terrorism.
During a weekly briefing, Jaiswal stated, "We anticipate Turkey to strongly advocate for Pakistan to stop its support for cross-border terrorism and to undertake credible and verifiable actions against the terror networks it has nurtured for many years. Relations should be founded on mutual sensitivities and concerns."
Discussion on Celebi Matter
Jaiswal also mentioned that discussions regarding the Celebi matter have taken place with the Turkish Embassy.
"The Celebi issue has been addressed with the Turkish Embassy here. However, I believe this specific decision was made by the Civil Aviation Security," he noted.
Celebi Airport Services' Legal Action
Celebi Airport Services, a Turkish ground handling company, recently had its clearance revoked for operations at various Indian airports by the Bureau of Civil Aviation.
In response, Celebi Airport Services India Pvt Ltd has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court against the Indian government's decision, citing concerns over national security.
The firm argues that this revocation could threaten thousands of jobs and undermine investor confidence.
Despite the revocation being linked to concerns over Turkey's support for Pakistan amid the ongoing India-Pakistan conflict, Celebi asserts that its operations in India are independent and professionally managed, distancing itself from any political ties.
Operation Sindoor Launched by Indian Armed Forces
In retaliation to the Pahalgam attack, the Indian Armed Forces initiated Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting nine terrorist locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). This operation resulted in the elimination of over 100 terrorists associated with groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM).
