India Establishes Control Room Amid Escalating Middle East Conflict
India's Response to Middle East Tensions
In light of the ongoing major conflict in the Middle East and the 'Operation Epic Fury', the Indian government has heightened its alert status. On Wednesday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) set up a dedicated control room in New Delhi to assist Indian citizens stranded in the Gulf region and West Asia.
This initiative comes in response to the intensified missile and drone attacks following the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei during strikes conducted by the United States and Israel on February 28.

The conflict erupted on Saturday, February 28, when the US and Israel launched multiple airstrikes in Iran, resulting in the deaths of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several other high-ranking officials. Both nations described this as a significant military operation. Iranian state media later confirmed Khamenei's death, escalating hostilities and prompting widespread retaliatory attacks.
Since then, the region has witnessed a surge in attacks and counterattacks, with Iran targeting Israeli assets, US military bases, and key locations in the Gulf.
