India's Squash Triumph Over South Korea

In a stellar performance, the Indian men's squash team secured a decisive 3-0 victory against South Korea during the group stage of the 2026 Asian Games on Monday, ensuring their place in the quarterfinals. Velavan Senthilkumar initiated the win by defeating Na Jooyoung of South Korea with scores of 11-6, 11-4, and 11-7, showcasing his dominance throughout the match.


Velavan started strong, clinching the first game 11-6, followed by an 11-4 win in the second game, and finally sealing the match with an 11-7 victory in the third.


Abhay Singh then extended India's lead with a commanding performance against Ryu Jeongmin, winning 11-4, 11-7, and 11-1. He quickly took the first game 11-4 and maintained his momentum to win the second before finishing off with a swift 11-1 in the third.


With the match already decided, Veer Chotrani completed the clean sweep for India by defeating Oh Seojin with scores of 11-6, 11-4, and 11-2, marking a perfect 3-0 victory for the team. This win followed India's earlier triumph over China, where they also won 3-0.


India's Medal Achievements on Monday

Indian athletes showcased remarkable talent at the 2026 Asian Games on Monday, with Esha Singh earning a silver medal in the women's 25m pistol event. Additionally, Pincky Balhara and Vithya Ramaraj secured bronze medals in kurash and athletics, respectively. Lovlina Borgohain and Priya also advanced to the semifinals in boxing, ensuring medal placements.


Esha Singh's silver came after an intense series of shoot-offs in the women's 25m pistol individual final.


Pincky Balhara, despite losing to South Korea's Mo Sumin in the women's -78kg semifinal, managed to clinch a bronze medal. Vithya Ramaraj also earned bronze in the women's 400m hurdles final, while Anu Raghavan finished fifth in the same event.


In boxing, Lovlina Borgohain triumphed over South Korea's Seong Suyeon in the women's 75kg quarterfinal, securing her medal, while Priya defeated Tajikistan's Mijgona Samadova in the women's 60kg quarterfinal.
