India Claims Gold with Junior World Record

The Indian duo of Shambhavi Kshirsagar and Divyanshu Dewangan achieved a remarkable feat by winning gold in the 10m air rifle mixed team event at the ISSF Junior World Cup in Cairo, Egypt. They set a new junior world record with an impressive score of 499.9. This victory marks India's fourth gold medal at the event. The pair had previously excelled in the qualification round, scoring a combined total of 632.0. Silver was secured by Chinese Taipei's Tsai Chieh-Ying and Chen You-An with a score of 498.3, while the bronze medal went to the French team of Tifenn Pomes and Gaspard Lesieur, who scored 434.4.


Sameer in Rapid-Fire Pistol Final

In the men's junior 25m rapid-fire pistol event, Sameer qualified for the finals with a score of 573, placing him second overall. France's Arnaud Gamaleri topped the qualification with a score of 589, which matched the junior world record. In the final, Sameer finished in seventh place, managing seven hits across the first three five-shot series of the eight-series final. Gamaleri ultimately won gold with a total of 29 hits.


India Leads Medal Tally

With two days remaining in the competition, India is leading the medal tally at the Cairo Junior World Cup, having amassed a total of 12 medals: four gold, five silver, and three bronze. Six gold medals are still up for grabs.


Other Indian Medalists

Earlier in the day, Prachi Gaikwad secured gold in the junior women's 50m rifle 3 positions (3P) event, scoring 354.6 in the final. She narrowly defeated Individual Neutral Athlete (AIN) Darya Chuprys, who finished with 354.4. Another AIN competitor, Elena Kretinina, took home the bronze with a score of 343.3, exiting the final after her 34th shot. Additionally, Naraen Pranav earned a bronze medal in the junior men's 10m air rifle, finishing with a score of 229.5.
