Government Refutes False Claims

The Indian government has officially dismissed allegations circulating on social media that India conducted a drone strike on the Nankana Sahib Gurudwara in Pakistan. The PIB Fact Check Unit stated that a video shared online falsely claims that India targeted the sacred site. This assertion is entirely fabricated, aimed at inciting communal hatred within India. Nankana Sahib, the birthplace of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, is one of the holiest places for the Sikh community and a significant pilgrimage site.

Condemnation of Misinformation

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri condemned the false claims regarding an attack on the Nankana Sahib Gurudwara, labeling these divisive efforts as doomed to fail. He also refuted misinformation about the destruction of Indian Air Force bases in Sirsa and Suratgarh, as well as the S-400 air defense system in Adampur, categorizing such claims as outright lies.

Call for Vigilance Against Propaganda

Misri urged the public not to be misled by Pakistani propaganda, emphasizing that these allegations are incorrect and propagated by state agencies. Colonel Sofia Qureshi reaffirmed the commitment of the Indian Armed Forces to non-escalation but stressed the need to respond to military actions from Pakistan. The Indian government reported an increase in aerial incursions and artillery attacks targeting civilian infrastructure by Pakistan, resulting in casualties. In retaliation, the Indian Armed Forces have targeted identified military sites. The center accused Pakistan of reckless attacks, including strikes on a medical center and schools.
