India Condemns Pakistan's Airstrike on Kabul Drug Treatment Center
India's Strong Condemnation of Airstrike
New Delhi, Mar 17: India has firmly denounced the recent airstrike by Pakistan on a drug rehabilitation center in Kabul, labeling it a "blatant violation" of Afghanistan's sovereignty and a significant threat to regional stability.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed its condemnation on Tuesday, describing the attack on the Omid Addiction Treatment Hospital as a "barbaric act".
"This cowardly act of violence has resulted in numerous civilian casualties in a facility that cannot be deemed a military target," the MEA stated.
The ministry further accused Pakistan of attempting to "disguise a massacre as a military operation".
"This aggressive act by Pakistan not only undermines Afghanistan's sovereignty but also poses a direct threat to peace and stability in the region," the statement continued.
The MEA highlighted Pakistan's ongoing pattern of reckless behavior and its efforts to shift its internal failures outward through violent actions beyond its borders.
India urged the international community to hold those responsible for this criminal act accountable and to ensure an immediate end to Pakistan's targeting of civilians in Afghanistan.
"The timing of this attack during the holy month of Ramzan, a period meant for peace and reflection among Muslims worldwide, makes it even more reprehensible," the MEA added.
"No faith, law, or moral code can justify the intentional targeting of a hospital and its patients," it emphasized.
The MEA extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the injured, reaffirming India's solidarity with the Afghan people during this tragic time.
"We also reiterate our steadfast support for Afghanistan's sovereignty and territorial integrity," it concluded.
Earlier reports from Afghan media indicated that the airstrike resulted in over 400 fatalities and more than 250 injuries at the Omid Addiction Treatment Hospital.
