Marking a Milestone in National Security

Today, the nation observes the first anniversary of 'Operation Sindoor', a military initiative that redefined India's 'zero tolerance' policy on a global scale. Exactly one year ago, the Indian Army executed a cross-border operation targeting terrorist hideouts. On this significant occasion, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and the Indian Army reiterated their unwavering commitment to national security, sending a strong message to Pakistan.

This operation was a direct response to a terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which resulted in the tragic loss of 26 civilian lives. Singh praised the operation and honored the bravery of the Indian Army, warning Pakistan and terrorist organizations that the military is fully prepared for decisive action. He described this operation as a symbol of national resolve.

Defence Minister's Tribute on Social Media

In a post on X, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed, "On the anniversary of Operation Sindoor, we pay tribute to our armed forces whose courage and dedication ensure the nation's safety. The precision of their actions during this operation, along with excellent coordination among various services, has set a new standard for modern military operations."

He further stated, "Operation Sindoor is a powerful symbol of national resolve and readiness. It demonstrates that our armed forces are always prepared to take decisive action when the country needs it most. This also signifies India's continuous progress towards achieving #selfreliance, enhancing our capabilities and strengthening our resilience."

Indian Air Force Shares Highlights of the Operation

The Indian Air Force, which played a pivotal role in this operation, shared a video on X showcasing key moments from the mission and emphasizing Prime Minister Modi's clear message to Pakistan.

The caption read, "Operation Sindoor: Justice served. Precision in action, immortal in memory—Operation Sindoor continues. India neither forgets nor forgives."

A Comprehensive Military Response

Following the Pahalgam attack, which claimed 26 civilian lives, India launched a significant military operation against terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, named 'Operation Sindoor'. This operation commenced on May 7 and involved a series of precise strikes on multiple terrorist locations.

During this operation, the Indian Army successfully destroyed over nine terrorist bases, which were identified as major command centers linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). These groups have been associated with notorious incidents such as the 2019 Pulwama attack and the 2008 Mumbai attacks, resulting in the deaths of over 100 terrorists.

Escalation and Resolution of Tensions

In retaliation, Pakistan attempted to strike Indian military positions from May 8 to May 10. Following these provocations, India targeted significant military sites in Pakistan with missile and drone strikes.

The ensuing tensions led to intense exchanges of drone and missile attacks across the border for four days. The hostilities came to a halt on May 10 when both nations agreed to de-escalate the situation at Pakistan's request.
