Ahmedabad, March 9: India's remarkable victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final has garnered significant acclaim, with Rajeev Shukla, Vice President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), expressing that this win is a source of immense pride and joy for the nation.

On Sunday, India made history by defeating New Zealand by 96 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, marking the first time a team has secured three Men’s T20 World Cup titles while also defending their championship on home turf.

Shukla remarked on the significance of this achievement, noting that the ongoing success of Indian teams across various formats and age categories has made this moment even more meaningful.

“The Indian team’s victory in the final brings us great happiness. Our consistent World Cup wins, including those in the women's and Under-19 tournaments, are truly remarkable. This is a delightful moment, and we have achieved tremendous success. No amount of praise can fully capture this achievement,” Shukla stated.

India's commanding performance featured a formidable score of 255/5 in their 20 overs, highlighted by Sanju Samson's explosive 89 runs off 46 balls, complemented by half-centuries from Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan. The bowlers then executed a stellar performance, restricting New Zealand to 159 runs in 19 overs, securing a decisive 96-run victory.
