She emphasized the remarkable medal count achieved by the nation and recognized the accomplishments of track and field competitors. Usha attributed this success to the unwavering support from the government, stating that the IOA and the government are collaborating to elevate Indian sports to international standards. "This is a moment of pride for every Indian, especially for the boxers who bring home gold medals while our national anthem plays. It's hard to encapsulate this feeling in just one word. The boxers have shown incredible determination, refusing to give up even in challenging moments. I'm thrilled that our track and field athletes also secured medals. Our Prime Minister actively supports sports and motivates the players, inviting them to his residence after their events. The alignment between the government and the IOA is evident, which is why we are witnessing such impressive performances. I am hopeful that we will soon achieve world-class status," Usha remarked.
Boxers Achieve Historic Best
Indian boxers have made history at the Commonwealth Games by securing a record-breaking total of 10 medals, which includes an unprecedented seven gold medals—the highest number achieved by any country in a single edition of the Games, along with three silver medals.
India's Overall Performance
As of now, India has amassed an impressive total of 39 medals at the Commonwealth Games 2026, consisting of 13 gold, 17 silver, and nine bronze medals. The pinnacle of India's Commonwealth Games achievements occurred during the 2010 Delhi edition, where the nation celebrated a historic total of 101 medals, including 39 gold, 26 silver, and 36 bronze, finishing second in the overall medal standings. This remains India's highest achievement at the Games and the only instance where the country surpassed the 100-medal milestone.
