Progress in India-US Trade Negotiations


New Delhi: On Saturday, Piyush Goyal, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, announced that discussions regarding the proposed trade agreement with the United States are advancing rapidly.


He also mentioned that negotiations for a free trade agreement with Oman are nearing completion.


Goyal informed the media, "The USA is making swift progress in these discussions."


A US delegation is scheduled to visit India in August for the next phase of negotiations concerning the bilateral trade agreement.


Last week, the Indian and US teams wrapped up the fifth round of discussions in Washington.


Both nations aim to finalize the initial phase of the proposed trade agreement by the fall (September-October), with the goal of increasing bilateral trade from the current USD 191 billion to USD 500 billion.
