Sources indicate that the initiative was taken by Pakistan's Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) earlier today, leading to fruitful discussions and a mutual agreement. Later, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed that the Pakistani DGMO contacted his Indian counterpart at 15:35 IST. They reached an agreement to cease all forms of military action and gunfire on land, air, and sea starting at 17:00 IST. Both sides have been instructed to implement this agreement today, with the military leaders set to reconvene on May 12 at noon.

He shared this news via a post on social media, stating that after extensive discussions mediated by the United States, he was pleased to announce that both countries have agreed to a complete and immediate ceasefire. He commended both nations for their wisdom and intelligence in reaching this agreement.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also tweeted about the situation, revealing that in the past 48 hours, he and Vice President Vance had engaged with senior officials from both India and Pakistan, including Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Shehbaz Sharif, as well as key military and security advisors. He expressed satisfaction that both governments have agreed to a ceasefire and to initiate discussions on broader issues at a neutral location, praising the leadership and political acumen of both Prime Ministers.
