The Indian women's cricket team has successfully reached the final of the Women's Asia Cup 2026 after defeating Bangladesh in the first semi-final match. The game took place on Thursday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, where India triumphed with a solid 40-run win. Bangladesh's captain, Nigar Sultana, opted to field first after winning the toss, which played to India's advantage. Batting first, India posted a total of 149 runs for the loss of six wickets. In response, Bangladesh managed only 109 runs for seven wickets, resulting in a straightforward victory for India. Shafali Verma's Stellar Performance
India's innings began on a rocky note, losing their first wicket for just nine runs at the end of the second over, with star opener Smriti Mandhana scoring only two runs. However, Shafali Verma stepped up, delivering an outstanding performance with the bat, scoring 64 runs off just 40 balls. Pratika Rawal, batting at number three, contributed 24 runs, while captain Harmanpreet Kaur remained not out on 24. Richa Ghosh added 21 runs, and Deepti Sharma chipped in with 13 runs.

In addition to her batting contributions, Deepti Sharma also excelled with the ball, taking three wickets for 26 runs. Nandani Sharma supported her with two wickets for just 10 runs.
