Sachin Siwach delivered an impressive comeback, winning against Namibia's Tryagain Morning Ndevelo with a 3-2 split decision in the men's 60 kg final. The boxer from Haryana faced challenges early on, trailing as he entered the crucial third round. Ndevelo's counterattacks put pressure on Sachin, who was cautioned multiple times by the referee. However, in a dramatic turn of events, Sachin launched a fierce offensive in the final moments, landing a significant punch that led to a standing count against Ndevelo just before the match concluded. Ankush Panghal's Victory Continues the Momentum
Following Sachin's triumph, Ankush Panghal maintained India's winning streak by defeating England's Dimeji Shittu with a 4-1 split decision to claim the men's 80kg title. The 22-year-old from Haryana faced a challenging first round where Shittu initially dominated. However, Ankush gradually took control of the match with strategic movements, precise backhand punches, and solid defense. With this performance, India's boxing team has achieved its best-ever results at the Commonwealth Games, securing seven gold medals from athletes including Preeti Pawar (54kg), Jaismine Lamboria (57kg), Sakshi Chaudhary (51kg), Priya Ghanghas (60kg), Arundhati Choudhary (70kg), Sachin Siwach (60kg), and Ankush Panghal (80kg). The two silver medals were earned by Jadumani Singh in the men's 55kg category and Olympic bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain, who narrowly lost to Australia's Emma-Sue Greentree in the women's 75kg division.
