Heightened Security Measures in Poonch District

In the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, security agencies have intensified their investigations and monitoring after apprehending a Pakistani infiltrator near the Line of Control (LoC). Concurrently, the anti-terror operation "Operation Sheruwali" continues in the dense forests of Rajouri district, now in its 36th consecutive day. These developments underscore the ongoing security challenges in border areas, with forces maintaining a vigilant watch over the situation.

Capture of Pakistani National

According to officials, army personnel detained a Pakistani citizen who crossed the LoC into Indian territory in the Gulpur area of the Krishna Ghati sector. The individual has been identified as 26-year-old Mohammad Sajjad, a resident of the Polas village in the Abbaspur region of Pakistan-administered Kashmir. During initial questioning, he claimed to have crossed the border inadvertently.

Ongoing Investigations

Security officials reported that Sajjad was taken into custody on Friday. His assertion of accidentally crossing the border is currently under thorough investigation by security agencies. Authorities are conducting continuous interrogations to ascertain the circumstances surrounding his border crossing and to determine if there were any ulterior motives.

Preventing Infiltration Attempts

Sources from the army indicated that the vigilance of troops stationed along the LoC thwarted this infiltration attempt in a timely manner. Enhanced surveillance in the area has been implemented to enable immediate action against any suspicious activities. Security agencies are also probing whether this incident is part of a larger infiltration network or plan.

Operation Sheruwali Continues

Meanwhile, the extensive anti-terror operation "Operation Sheruwali" is ongoing in the dense forests of the Dori Mal and Gambhir Mughalan regions of Rajouri district. Launched in the last week of May, the operation aims to locate and neutralize terrorists and infiltrators hiding in the challenging mountainous and forested terrains.

Joint Efforts by Security Forces

Officials have stated that joint teams from the Jammu and Kashmir police's Special Operations Group, the army, and other security agencies are actively engaged in the operation. Continuous search operations are being conducted in the forests, with strict monitoring of the entire area. The operation also employs human intelligence alongside technical surveillance, and teams of army sniffer dogs are involved.

Challenges Faced by Security Forces

The most significant challenge for security forces is the difficult terrain and dense forests, where the presence of hiding terrorists is a concern. According to officials, security agencies are advancing the operation with full coordination and have implemented additional security measures to prevent any untoward incidents in the area.

Continuation of Operation Sheruwali

Officials have clarified that Operation Sheruwali will continue until the entire area is declared secure and all objectives of the operation are met. The heightened vigilance and joint operations in border regions indicate that security forces are fully engaged in addressing the challenges of terrorism and infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir.
