Intelligence reports indicate over 50 attempts in recent weeks, with many thwarted by security forces. The situation has escalated tensions between India and Pakistan, prompting a robust military response and heightened security measures in Jammu and Kashmir. Rising Security Concerns After Pahalgam Attack

Following the devastating terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam on April 22, which resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians, there has been a notable rise in infiltration attempts along the Line of Control (LoC). This increase in activity has raised significant concerns among security personnel, especially in light of the fragile ceasefire that was established after India's Operation Sindoor.

Recent intelligence reports reveal that in the last two weeks, over 50 terrorists have attempted to infiltrate into Indian territory, using various sectors including Gurez, Uri, Kupwara, Heeranagar, and Sunderbani as entry points. These infiltration attempts have reportedly been aided by artillery fire from Pakistan, a tactic that has historically been used to distract Indian security forces. However, security agencies have confirmed that many of these incursions have been successfully intercepted.

A significant event took place on May 8 in the Samba sector, where the Border Security Force (BSF) thwarted a major infiltration attempt, neutralizing seven heavily armed terrorists. This operation was made possible through advanced surveillance technology, although some infiltrators managed to escape, raising alarms about a potential resurgence of terrorist activity in the Union Territory.

Experts believe that this surge in infiltration is part of a larger strategy by terror groups based in Pakistan, aiming to take advantage of India's shifted military focus following Operation Sindoor.

A senior security official noted, 'The melting snow in the higher regions of the LoC is expected to lead to an increase in infiltration attempts in the upcoming weeks.' In response, security forces are ramping up their counter-infiltration measures, conducting area domination patrols and bolstering troop presence in vulnerable districts.

The aftermath of the Pahalgam attack has severely strained Indo-Pak relations, with India's strong military response further heightening tensions. As international calls for restraint intensify amid fears of a broader conflict, the security framework in Jammu and Kashmir is being strengthened. Checkpoints are being tightened, surveillance operations are being enhanced, and search-and-cordon missions are being initiated across various locations to eliminate any newly infiltrated terrorists and dismantle sleeper cells.
