Income Tax Awareness Program Held at Batt College of Nursing
Promoting Tax Compliance Among Students
In Dalhousie, the Income Tax Office organized an informative session at Batt College of Nursing and ITI Bonkharimor to emphasize the significance of filing Income Tax Returns (ITR) and ensuring timely tax compliance.
The event was overseen by Mrs. Shalini Bhargav Kaushal, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax–1 from Chandigarh, and Mr. Keshav Kumar Anand, Joint Commissioner of Income Tax from Shimla Range. Mr. Vineet Kumar, the Income Tax Officer in Dalhousie, led the session.
The main goal of this initiative was to enlighten students and attendees about the importance, advantages, and processes involved in timely ITR filing. Comprehensive details were provided regarding eligible taxpayers, the benefits of prompt filing, and the digital services available through the Income Tax Department.
Participants were familiarized with online resources such as the e-Filing Portal, Pre-filled Returns, Annual Information Statement (AIS), and Form 26AS. The discussion highlighted that consistent ITR filing acts as proof of income, which is advantageous for securing loans, processing visas, and claiming refunds for excess TDS.
The session also addressed the necessity of voluntary and timely tax compliance, with officials warning that delays or non-filing could result in notices, interest charges, penalties, and other issues.
Mr. Vineet Kumar responded to questions from attendees regarding income tax and motivated them to embrace responsible tax practices. The interactive nature of the session encouraged active participation from students and trainees.
The department reiterated that timely and precise tax compliance is not only a legal obligation for every eligible taxpayer but also a crucial contribution to the nation's development.
Attendees included Income Tax Inspector Uttam Kumar, Tax Assistants Rajesh Kumar, Shobhit Chawla, Pankaj Kumar, and Rajeev Kumar from the Dalhousie office, along with officials from Batt College of Nursing such as Admin Officer Rita Thakur, Superintendent Vishal Sekhri, Vice Principal Sunidhi, Lecturer Damini Gupta, ITI Vice Principal Manish Bakaria, and Instructor Manish Bharmauri. A significant number of trainees participated in the program.
