Inauguration of the Redesigned Sindoor Flyover Enhances Mumbai's Connectivity

Sindoor Flyover Officially Opened by Chief Minister

On Thursday morning, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the newly reconstructed Carnac Bridge, now known as the Sindoor Flyover. This flyover is expected to significantly improve the east-west traffic flow in South Mumbai. Traffic is anticipated to commence by 3 PM.

During the inauguration, Fadnavis remarked that the Sindoor Flyover replaces the damaged Carnac Bridge, which had been demolished. He noted that Carnac was a tyrannical governor, and the name change to Sindoor Bridge reflects the sentiments of Operation Sindoor, which holds a special place in the hearts of Indians. He expressed gratitude to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for completing the construction in record time and dedicated the bridge to the people of Mumbai, who can start using it from 3 PM today.

Strategic Location of the Sindoor Flyover

Strategically located near the Masjid Bunder railway station, the Sindoor Flyover connects P. D'Mello Road to key commercial areas such as Crawford Market, Kalbadevi, and Mohammed Ali Road. Following safety concerns, the 150-year-old Carnac Bridge was demolished in August 2022. The BMC, under the leadership of Additional Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar, expedited the development of this project, which was completed by June 10.
