Grand Opening of Sanskrit Awareness Camp
Narayangarh. A grand inauguration of a seven-day residential Sanskrit awareness camp was held at Shrimad Bhagavad Gita Senior Secondary School, Narayangarh (Ambala), organized by Sanskrit Bharati Haryana. The former Education Minister of Haryana, Shri Kanwarpal Gurjar, graced the event as the chief guest.
Significance of Sanskrit in Indian Culture
During his address, he emphasized, “Indian attire, Sanskrit, and culture are the true identity of India. Sanskrit is not just a language; it is the foundation of India's rich knowledge tradition. This language embodies ethics, values, and cultural principles.” He further explained that the New Education Policy 2020 includes specific provisions for the preservation of Indian knowledge traditions and Sanskrit, which will lead to significant changes in this area.
Event Organization and Goals
The event was coordinated by Sanskrit Bharati, with Dr. Jogendra Singh serving as the host, introducing and honoring the guests. Shri Narendra Kumar, the organizational secretary of Sanskrit Bharati for the northern region, stated as the keynote speaker, “Sanskrit is the universal language of knowledge and science. Sanskrit Bharati is working to make it the language of the masses across India and in 28 other countries.”
He mentioned that the organization conducts training camps for Sanskrit conversation in various states and abroad, where participants become proficient in speaking and writing Sanskrit within just ten days of practice.
Fusion of Science and Culture
Chairing the program, industrialist Shri Vijay Agarwal highlighted the scientific facts embedded in Sanskrit. Meanwhile, Haryana's co-secretary Bhupendra Ji delivered the introductory speech for the camp.
Details of the Camp
Dr. Naveen Sharma (State Training Head) informed that two residential Sanskrit awareness camps are being held in Ambala's Narayangarh and Beri in Jhajjar. The camp in Narayangarh, running from June 13 to 21, has 62 participants from Ambala, Kurukshetra, Panchkula, Karnal, Panipat, Kaithal, and Hisar.
Camp Features and Participation
Notable attendees included Dr. Jogendra Singh, North Region Gita Teaching Head, Pushpendra Atri, Literature Head, co-secretary Isham Singh, chief trainer Gurjeet Singh, and several other scholars. The program concluded with a vote of thanks from State President Dr. Someshwar Datt.
Upcoming Camp Schedule
Dr. Naveen Sharma announced that the second camp will take place from June 21 to 29 at Lala Dayaram Tigadania Saraswati Shishumandir, Beri (Jhajjar), with participants from Gurugram, Sirsa, Faridabad, and Pataudi.
Utilizing Summer Vacation Effectively
Dr. Someshwar Datt, the state president of Sanskrit Bharati, stated that organizing these camps during summer vacation ensures that students make productive use of their time. Participants receive practical training in Sanskrit, grammar, and speaking and writing skills, fostering their interest in Sanskrit and preparing them for scholarly studies.
