Inauguration of New Terminal at Jodhpur Airport Marks New Era in Aviation

Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat celebrated the occasion by welcoming the first passengers and highlighting the extensive efforts that led to this achievement. Launch of Regular Flight Services from Jodhpur Airport's New Terminal


Jaipur. The new terminal building at Jodhpur Airport, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 4, commenced regular flight operations on Sunday. On the first day of the terminal's operation, Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, presented a ticket and welcome kit to the first passenger, Chandravir Singh, wishing him well on his journey.


During this event, all passengers arriving on the inaugural flight were warmly welcomed in accordance with Rajasthani traditions. The atmosphere was filled with joy as local artists performed captivating folk presentations, accompanied by the sounds of a band and the presentation of flower bouquets to the travelers. The terminal complex buzzed with excitement and celebration. To commemorate this historic occasion, Minister Shekhawat celebrated by cutting a cake with the passengers.


In a conversation with the media, Minister Shekhawat stated that efforts for the modernization of Jodhpur Airport and the construction of the new terminal had been ongoing for the past 12 years. Despite numerous challenges, this vision has now been realized. He emphasized that the commencement of regular flight services from the newly inaugurated terminal on July 12 is a significant achievement for Jodhpur and the entire Marwar region.


He noted that the operational start of the terminal at sunrise symbolizes Jodhpur's entry into a new era of modern civil aviation facilities.


Shekhawat expressed confidence that travelers using the new terminal would experience world-class amenities alongside the rich culture and hospitality of the city. He believes this terminal will become a strong symbol of Jodhpur's new identity and its ongoing development journey.


He also highlighted that compared to 2014, the number of passengers traveling to and from Jodhpur Airport has increased more than tenfold, with a similar growth in flight operations. Jodhpur has established air connectivity with most major cities in the country, and this connectivity expands further during the winter tourism season. He is optimistic that with the continuous expansion of the civil aviation sector in the country, Jodhpur's air connectivity will become even more robust in the coming years.


Shekhawat added that in recent years, Jodhpur has made remarkable progress in civil aviation, as well as in rail and road infrastructure. New rail services, modern railway infrastructure, four-lane roads, elevated roads, and bypass projects have significantly enhanced connectivity in the region, providing better facilities for the public and travelers.


This event was attended by local MLA Atul Bhansali, Rajendra Paliwal, officials from the Airport Authority of India, representatives from various departments, and a large number of passengers.
