New Educational Infrastructure Unveiled

Doomdooma, Dec 4: A significant advancement in the region's educational framework was celebrated with the inauguration of a newly built two-storey structure at Rupai High School on Wednesday, officiated by Cabinet Minister and Doomdooma MLA Rupesh Gowala.

This building, which was constructed under the ‘Strengthening of Existing School (IX-X) Buildings’ initiative of Samagra Shiksha Abhijan for the 2019-20 period, represents an investment of Rs 1.76 crore. The project received approval from the Project Approval Board (PAB) of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

The inauguration ceremony took place on the school grounds and commenced with a Borgeet performance by student Gargi Hazarika, setting a delightful atmosphere for the gathering. Community leaders, educators, and esteemed guests were present to commemorate this long-awaited enhancement to the school’s facilities.

School teacher Anup Kumar Bordoloi served as the event moderator, while retired headmaster Prakash Dutta welcomed attendees, reflecting on the school’s history and his enduring connection to it.

Dr. Kamaleswar Kalita, principal of Doomdooma College, praised the building's design and functionality, emphasizing the school’s role as a growing educational resource for the community. He underscored the importance of robust infrastructure in enhancing the academic landscape in rural settings and encouraged local schools to pursue excellence.

Benu Borah, a former secretary of the management committee, shared insights into the challenges encountered during the school’s inception, while Tinsukia district Inspector of Schools Binti Sharma discussed the school’s development and future potential.

The event also featured the launch of the 28th book by renowned author and former secretary of Tinsukia Zila Sahitya Sabha, Sarat Chandra Chiring Phukon. The book, titled Srishti Chintar Safura, was officially released by Minister Gowala.

In his speech, Gowala remarked on the ‘significant transformation’ occurring in the educational sector of the greater Doomdooma area. He noted the rising number of schools statewide and the marked improvements in the infrastructure of primary schools located in tea garden regions, which foster a conducive learning environment for students. The minister also provided updates on various ongoing development initiatives in Doomdooma.

The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Manoj Dutta, President of the School Management and Development Committee, wrapping up the event on a celebratory note.
