Inauguration of Kumar Bhaskar Barman Flyover to Transform Nalbari's Infrastructure
Major Infrastructure Development in Nalbari
Nalbari, Aug 13: The residents of Nalbari are on the brink of a significant infrastructure upgrade as Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is set to inaugurate the newly built Kumar Bhaskar Barman Flyover in Borkura this Thursday.
This inauguration aligns with the celebrations of Nalbari District Day, creating a festive atmosphere in the town.
Constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 70 crore, the flyover took almost five years to complete and is anticipated to alleviate traffic congestion, enhancing connectivity from the National Highway to Nalbari town.
In addition to the flyover, the Chief Minister will lay the foundation for a new railway overbridge at Ghorapara Rail Crossing and unveil various development projects worth approximately Rs 576 crore for the Nalbari constituency.
The District Day festivities will take place at the Government Gordon Higher Secondary School playground, with a large crowd expected to attend.
State Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah assessed the event preparations on Wednesday.
He expressed, “Tomorrow marks a proud moment for Nalbari. We will launch projects worth Rs 576 crore, including the railway overbridge and the long-awaited flyover. This infrastructure will significantly enhance access between the national highway and Nalbari town, improving connectivity for residents.”
The All Assam Kalita Community has welcomed the naming of the bridge after Kumar Bhaskar Barman, a respected historical figure and king of the area.
Member Dhan Kalita stated, “It is a source of pride for the Kalita community that our great king, Kumar Bhaskar Barman, is honored through this bridge. We are thrilled to see his legacy recognized.”
Nalbari Mayor Jayashree Talukdar described the event as a moment of joy and relief.
She remarked, “After enduring a long wait and several delays, the bridge is finally complete. This is a day of good news for the people of Nalbari.”
Former District Council President Nitul Deka emphasized the practical advantages of the project, particularly for commuters from surrounding districts.
He noted, “For years, residents from Barpeta, Bongaigaon, and Dhubri have struggled to access Nalbari town. This flyover will address many of those challenges. With the other projects being inaugurated tomorrow, Nalbari is set for a complete transformation.”
