Inauguration of Ashadh Nag Fair by Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania in Banikhet

Celebration of Culture at Ashadh Nag Fair

Dalhousie – The Ashadh Nag Fair was officially launched today by Kuldeep Singh Pathania, the Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, in the scenic town of Banikhet, close to the famous tourist spot of Dalhousie.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by MLA D.S. Thakur and Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal. Pathania led a vibrant procession from the Public Works Department Rest House in Banikhet to the revered Bhuru Nag Temple in Padher, where he performed rituals to kick off the four-day festivities.
During his address, the Speaker highlighted Himachal Pradesh’s reputation as Devbhoomi (Land of the Gods), emphasizing that fairs and festivals are vital to the state's rich cultural tapestry. He remarked that such events not only preserve folk traditions but also embody the community's devotion to their deities and promote social unity.
Pathania underscored the historical and spiritual relevance of both the Bhuru Nag Temple and the Ashadh Nag Fair, commending their cultural significance. He reiterated the state government's dedication to safeguarding traditional arts, architecture, and heritage sites, ensuring that future generations remain connected to their cultural roots.
Additionally, he lit a ceremonial lamp to mark the beginning of the cultural evening. Anil Bhardwaj, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and Chairperson of the Fair Committee, presented the Speaker with a traditional shawl, cap, and a commemorative memento.
The event was attended by notable figures including Nagar Panchayat President Arun Rana, District Congress Committee General Secretary Rajeev Kaushal, Superintending Engineer Rajesh Mogra, Rajeev Thakur, Deputy Superintendent of Police Yograj, Divisional Forest Officer Rajnish Mahajan, District Language Officer Tukesh Sharma, Tehsildar Ramesh Chauhan, and many other esteemed guests from the area.
