Key Banking Updates for Customers in September

A significant update has emerged for bank customers regarding the second week of September. Between September 11 and 13, 2026, certain bank branches may remain closed for three consecutive days. However, it's important to note that not all banks across the country will be closed during this period. The holiday schedule varies based on city and state.

Bank Closures on September 11

On Friday, September 11, bank branches in Jaipur, Rajasthan, will be closed due to municipal elections. This closure is not applicable nationwide, so customers in Jaipur are advised to complete any urgent banking tasks beforehand.

In Delhi, there are reports of a special holiday related to government offices on September 11. However, the impact on bank branches may differ based on the bank and local arrangements, so customers in Delhi should verify their branch's schedule.

Nationwide Bank Closure on September 12

On Saturday, September 12, all bank branches across the country will be closed as it is the second Saturday of the month. According to RBI regulations, banks observe holidays on the second and fourth Saturdays.

Additionally, in Guwahati, Assam, banks will also be closed on September 12 due to the observance of Srimanta Sankardev's Tirubhava Tithi.

Continued Closure on September 13

Sunday, September 13 will see the regular weekly closure of banks nationwide. This means that bank branches will be closed for two consecutive days on September 12 and 13.

Will UPI and Online Banking Services Be Affected?

The closure of bank branches does not imply that all banking services will be unavailable. Typically, services such as UPI, internet banking, mobile banking, ATMs, and digital fund transfers remain operational during holidays. RTGS services are also available 24/7 throughout the year. However, temporary disruptions may occur due to technical maintenance or local issues.

For tasks requiring in-person visits to the bank, such as document submissions or verifications, customers will need to wait until the branches reopen.

Essential Advice for Customers

If you have any urgent banking needs, plan your visit to the branch considering the holiday dates. Particularly for September 11 in Jaipur and September 12-13 nationwide, it's advisable to check the local bank schedule before heading out.
