India Warns Nationals Against Misusing Visa-Free Entry to Malaysia

Singapore, Sep 22: On Tuesday, the Indian government cautioned its citizens in Malaysia against utilizing the 30-day visa-free entry option for employment purposes.
The High Commission of India in Kuala Lumpur shared this advisory on social media, highlighting a significant rise in the number of Indian nationals arriving in Malaysia who have been deceived by dishonest agents promising false job opportunities.
According to the advisory, many individuals have fallen victim to these agents, resulting in overstays, illegal residency, exploitation, detention, and potential legal repercussions. The visa-free entry is intended solely for tourism and social visits, making such actions a clear breach of immigration regulations.
The High Commission noted the alarming trend of Indian nationals arriving in Malaysia under the visa-free scheme with the intention of seeking jobs. “Indian nationals traveling to Malaysia on tourist visas are warned against engaging in employment,” the advisory stated.
Furthermore, it emphasized that genuine tourists should possess valid documentation, including a confirmed return ticket, hotel reservations, and the online submission of the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) at least three days prior to arrival, along with a passport valid for a minimum of six months, to prevent any immigration complications upon entry.
The High Commission has firmly advised against traveling to Malaysia for work or employment without the appropriate work permit or visa with reference (VDR).
