IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall Across India Next Week
Forecast of Widespread Rainfall
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that many regions in the country will experience significant rainfall in the upcoming week. Warnings have been issued for heavy to very heavy precipitation across several states and union territories.
From July 16 to 21, rain is anticipated in areas including Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East and West Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan. Notably, very heavy rainfall is expected in Jammu and Kashmir and East Rajasthan on July 16, Uttarakhand on July 17, and East Uttar Pradesh on July 16-17.
Monsoon conditions are expected to remain robust in East and Central India, with heavy rains likely in isolated regions of Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and West Bengal. Particularly, Western Madhya Pradesh may see very heavy rainfall on July 18, while East Madhya Pradesh could experience similar conditions on July 16-17.
In West India, warnings have been issued for intense rainfall in the valley areas of Konkan, Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra on July 20 and 21, with parts of Gujarat also expecting heavy rains on July 16.
The Northeast region is forecasted to have light to moderate rainfall throughout the week, with heavy rains possible in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, and Tripura from July 19 to 21.
Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall until July 21, accompanied by strong winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 km/h. Additionally, hot and humid conditions are expected in Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema on July 16.
