Arrests Made for Gold Smuggling at Tribhuvan International Airport


Kathmandu: Authorities reported the arrest of two individuals, including an Indian citizen, at Nepal's Tribhuvan International Airport on Thursday for attempting to smuggle over half a kilogram of gold.


The Indian national, identified as Mohammad Chera Thodi, aged 42, was apprehended in the airport's parking area after police noticed his suspicious behavior.


Thodi had just arrived on a Qatar Airways flight from Doha, and during a routine security inspection, officials discovered 536 grams of illegal gold hidden in his luggage.


In a related incident, a Nepali citizen named Anish Ansari, 32, from Pachrauta Municipality in Bara district, was also arrested. He was traveling on the same flight and was found with 69.6 grams of gold, lacking any documentation to justify its possession.
