Palampur: A vehicle arriving from Bhawarna was apprehended for unlawfully disposing of waste in Palampur, violating the Himachal Pradesh Non-Biodegradable Garbage (Control) Act of 1995. Municipal Corporation councillor Sanjay Rathore was on-site and took swift action against the perpetrator.

This act of dumping non-biodegradable materials in public spaces contravenes the 1995 legislation, which explicitly forbids such practices in drains, roadways, and open areas throughout the state.

Palampur's Mayor, Gopal Nag, denounced the incident and pledged that stringent legal measures would be enforced against offenders. He stated, “We will not tolerate such illegal activities within municipal boundaries,” and assured that the issue would be addressed legally.

Both the Mayor and the Municipal Commissioner highlighted the need for enhanced surveillance and enforcement to deter future violations. They also called on residents to aid in maintaining the city's cleanliness and to report any similar incidents to municipal authorities without delay.

The Himachal Pradesh Non-Biodegradable Garbage (Control) Act, 1995, was established to manage the use and disposal of non-biodegradable waste and to mitigate pollution in public areas.
