The groundwork for the anticipated extension campus of IIT Mandi at Bhagotla in Palampur is poised to commence shortly, with a survey team from NIT Hamirpur scheduled to begin their work within a week. IIT Mandi has taken the necessary steps to advance the project.
Today, the site was evaluated by Gokul Butail, the Chief Minister’s Principal Advisor on Innovation, Digital Technology, and Governance, who was joined by IIT Mandi Director Prof. Laxmidhar Behera and senior officials from the Palampur administration. During the inspection, Butail gathered insights from local authorities and provided directives to facilitate the project's progress.
Prof. Behera confirmed that the NIT Hamirpur team is set to initiate the survey process within the week. Butail highlighted the critical need for road connectivity to the site, instructing officials to ensure the seamless transport of construction materials.
Status of Forest Clearance
Officials indicated that forest clearance has been secured for 20 hectares, while the approval for an additional 30 hectares is still pending, with efforts currently underway.
Technical Review and Coordination Efforts
During the site visit, various technical aspects of the project were assessed. Prof. Behera assured that IIT Mandi would provide full support, while administrative officials emphasized the necessity for close collaboration among different departments.
