The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi is set to host its 14th Convocation on June 20, featuring B.K. Goenka, the founder of Welspun World, as the chief guest who will deliver the convocation address.


This ceremony will honor the academic successes of 643 graduates, comprising 321 undergraduates, 259 postgraduates, and 63 doctoral candidates, marking a significant achievement for the institute as it continues to enhance its reputation among India's top technology and research institutions.


Notably, this year's B.Tech graduating class is the largest in IIT Mandi's history, representing the highest number of engineering graduates since the institute's establishment.


Guests of honor at the event will include Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, and Prof. Rangan Banerjee, Director of IIT Delhi. The ceremony will be overseen by Lt Gen (Retd.) Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon, PVSM, UYSM, YSM, VSM, who serves as the Chairman of the Board of Governors at IIT Mandi.


Degrees will be awarded to students across various programs, and medals will be presented to recognize outstanding achievements in academics, research, innovation, and leadership.


Prior to the convocation, IIT Mandi's Director, Prof. Laxmidhar Behera, emphasized the significance of this occasion for the graduates and the institute.


“Convocation is a moment of pride that encapsulates years of dedication, hard work, and academic success. As our graduates transition into the next chapter of their lives, we trust they will embody the principles of innovation, integrity, and social responsibility, contributing positively to society,” he stated.


Prof. Behera reiterated the institute's dedication to fostering an academic environment that promotes interdisciplinary learning, research excellence, entrepreneurship, and technological innovation.


“Our aim is to cultivate graduates who are not only academically proficient but also possess the vision and skills to address emerging global challenges,” he added.
