IGMC Shimla Resident Doctors Demand Timely Stipend Payments
Concerns Raised Over Stipend Delays at IGMC
Shimla, December 19: The Resident Doctors’ Association at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) in Shimla has expressed significant concerns regarding the ongoing delays in the distribution of monthly stipends for both senior and junior resident doctors.
The association reports that for the last three months, no stipends have been issued within the first 15 days of the month. As of December 19, the resident doctors are still waiting for their payments, labeling the situation as “a matter of shame” for the government, hospital management, and the Medical Education Department.
As the largest medical college and hospital in the state, IGMC depends heavily on resident doctors who provide essential care to patients throughout Himachal Pradesh. The association claims that despite their vital contributions, the authorities have either neglected to ensure timely payments or have caused unnecessary delays.
“This is a serious issue. If even the leading medical college in the state cannot pay its resident doctors punctually, it reflects poorly on the entire system,” the association remarked.
The mounting frustration among the doctors has led to warnings of potential work stoppages or a pen-down strike if the situation is not addressed promptly.
