Record-Breaking Ticket Sales for Women's T20 World Cup

New Delhi, Jan 12: Ticket sales for the forthcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England have already outstripped the total sales from the 2017 50-over tournament, highlighting the increasing interest in women's cricket.

Scheduled for June and July, this will be the 10th edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. With five months remaining until the opening match on June 12, over 100,000 tickets have already been sold, as reported by the BBC.

The 2017 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup final at Lord’s was a historic event, marking the first time a women’s match filled England’s largest cricket venue, with England emerging victorious on home ground.

This year’s T20 tournament promises to be the largest yet, featuring 12 teams competing for the prestigious trophy.

The teams will be split into two groups. Group 1 includes multiple-time champions Australia, 2024 finalists South Africa, and strong contenders India and Pakistan, along with two teams from the Global Qualifier.

Group 2 consists of the host nation England, defending champions New Zealand, Sri Lanka, former winners West Indies, and the remaining two teams from the Global Qualifier.

The top two teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals, set for June 30 and July 2 at The Oval, culminating in the final at Lord’s on July 5.

The tournament will unfold over 24 days, featuring 33 matches across seven renowned venues: Edgbaston, Hampshire Bowl, Headingley, Old Trafford, The Oval, Bristol County Ground, and Lord’s.

The Global Qualifier will take place in Kathmandu, Nepal, from January 18 to February 1, where 10 teams will compete for the last four spots in the tournament in England and Wales.
